The first project is part of the Dawn Chorus series, a tribute to songbirds. The Goldcrest Scarf, inspired by the beautiful colours of the goldcrest, was designed by Martin Up North and is suitable for advanced crocheters and knitters. The pattern uses jacquard techniques, such as mosaic crochet and knitting, which alternate throughout the scarf, so that the pattern does not get boring. You make the scarf with Scheepjes Metropolis, a wonderfully soft, yet strong yarn made of 75% merino wool and 25% nylon. In addition to the yarn, the kit also contains a number of nice extras.

The Scheepjes CKAL Goldcrest Scarf kit contains the following materials:

7 x Scheepjes Metropolis of 50 grams with a running length of 200 meters per ball

1 x notepad

1 x roll of washi tape

1 x set of 3 postcards

The crochet and knitting pattern is available for free via the Scheepjes website in Dutch, English (UK & US) and German and via the official Scheepjes Facebook groups. For both versions you will of course also need knitting or crochet hooks and accessories. These are not included in the kit. For the crocheted version these are:

1 x crochet hook in needle size 3.50mm

1 x set of 5 double-pointed knitting needles in needle size 3.00mm

2 x 80cm long circular knitting needles in needle size 3.00mm OR 1 x 80cm long circular knitting needles in needle size 3.00mm and 1 x stitch holder

4 x stitch markers

When the scarf is finished, the crocheted version will be 26 x 180cm and the knitted version 25 x 170cm. Each kit is packed in a sturdy black cardboard box with Scheepjes print measuring 31.5 x 23.5 x 8cm.
